Low-dose COVID vaccines work for children under 6

Getting a COVID vaccination can reduce your child’s risk of severe illness from COVID. CDC recommends everyone 5+ get vaccinated for COVID and everyone 12+ gets a booster.

Moderna announced Wednesday that it will seek FDA authorization for its lower-dose COVID vaccine for babies and young children under 6.

Vaccine efficacy was 37.5% in children ages 2 to 6, and 43.7% in children 6 months to 2 years old. Blood samples from clinical trial participants showed the vaccine had a “robust neutralizing antibody response in both age groups.”

It is hoped that appropriate vaccines will be available for young children shortly.
